Onboarding Steps for & Email to Google Ads Client (WIP)

Details about the steps, access needed, documents used, and emails for new Google Ads clients.

Access & Actions Needed from Client

The client must…

  1. Create a Google Ads account, set up billing details, and provide their account number so we can request access to manage their account via the Google Ads Partner program.
  2. Grant access to Google Analytics (UA and GA4). The instructions linked in the prior sentence are for UA. If the client doesn’t have UA and/or GA4, we can set that up for them, but we’ll need an email address tied to a Google Account to delegate ownership to them.

Other details are included below in the welcome email to the client.

Email to Client

We’re looking forward to working together! Here is a list of things we’ll need to get started. You may provide access for items 2 through 4 to garrett@garrettdigital.com.

  1. Your Google Ads account number. It can be found in the upper-right corner of the screen at https://ads.google.com/. I will send a request to manage your account, which you’ll need to approve using the link in the email.
  2. Access to your Google Analytics account. The steps to do this are at https://www.garrettdigital.com/learn/ga-access/.
  3. Access to your Google Tag Manager account. Please grant Admin & Publish access. The steps to do this are at https://www.garrettdigital.com/learn/gtm-access/.
  4. Access to WordPress. There are steps to do this at https://www.garrettdigital.com/learn/wordpress-access/.
  5. Access to Google My Business. The steps to do this are at https://www.garrettdigital.com/learn/gmb-access/. Please grant Site Manager or Admin access.

Some of the instructions linked above might have changed slightly since they were published. Google is always moving things around.
